Whoever said digital painting is easier!

Whoever said digital painting is easier than traditional painting in my opinion is WRONG 😮

I received my new tablet on Tuesday morning , I was so excited, I couldn’t wait to get going 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️ at last a screen I could paint onto 💃🏼💃🏼

It wasn’t  easy to set it all up, I’m definitely not a techie 👩‍💻 My pixels were playing up I painted a few things and they looked okay until I exported them. They had sparkles all around them and not in a good way.

I did the most amazing angel and she wouldn’t export properly!

So yesterday found me up at the crack of dawn trying to fix the problem. I even was having an online chat with some happy American person trying to fix my issues!

They told me what to do but  yet again I couldn’t fix it. 😤

By this time I was in meltdown, John had just got up when I informed him that I had enough it was going back in it’s box.

I removed all the wires and put it neatly back in it’s box. Out of mind out of sight!

A few hours later John called me into our spare room to tell me he had fixed the problem and it was ready to use. The thought of giving it another go was not happening. Every time I walked past the room I looked at it and snarled.

This morning I woke up feeling all refreshed and feeling good with the world. Yes I’m still eating bread 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️

img_3322I decided to try again thinking I would try something simple, something I had hand painted last year.   I decided to use the Art rage programme (aptly named) because I’m getting used to it and find it easier than photoshop.

This was my traditional hand painted one in acrylics.

This is the digital version below.

Getting there, slow and steady wins the race !

I feel like I am got to grips with my Wacom tablet but I’m finding it too small, I can’t work with a flourish ( I’m artistic 😏)  I also have to look at the screen on my computer all the time and it is a bit of a pain!

Therefore I have decided to shake things up a bit and I’ve just ordered a new device which I can draw directly on to. It was on offer on Amazon and after watching several  You Tube reviews I think this will suit me better.

I can connect it to my laptop and use it on my knee as opposed to sitting in another room. Obviously I will have to get used to looking at what I’m painting again 🙄 and no doubt I will have to go through the pain of learning something new but  hey 🤷🏼‍♀️ no pain no gain!

I am still trying to perfect painting with a pen, without using anything to copy or trace. It’s a challenge and a whole new way of working. It’s almost like starting all over again.

The thought of doing a traditional painting no longer interests me, I’m enjoying learning a new skill. It excites me because I know I’ve only dabbled in what’s available and I know I am going to create something magical in the future 😉

Todays digital painting 😊

Some of my older followers may remember when I hand painted the one below using acrylic paint.

Disco dancing in acrylics.

I was so proud of myself when I did this one because I felt that I had captured some movement.
