I find it hard to believe that my first ever painting was this fish in oil paints. My mother told me to give painting up as a bad job 😢 I nearly did too.
But due to the encouragement from my online friends I persevered and kept practicing, it is true that the more you do something the easier it gets.
My fish never dried, weeks after when I threw it in the skip it was still wet! I will never forget this fish and every so often I remember to look at this photograph of it and thank my friends for all their encouragement and belief in me. 😉
I was awake from 5am this morning and decided to get up and start a painting which I’ve kept going back and doing it a bit more all day.
I was looking at mum’s photo which is on my desk beside my computer screen wondering what she would say 🤔 hmm, she would have probably said I’ve never seen a sky that colour or waves like those and she would have been right, but then she usually was! 😂🤣
I’m glad you chose to bypass the notion of quitting and stick with art because you do an incredible job at it, Elaine. It did make me chuckle though that your fish oil painting never dried… even weeks later?! I really like this one, you’ve captured sunrise/sunset beautifully and the crashing waves really nicely, and I like the little gulls in the sky casually doing their thing 🙂

You are always very observant, painting has given me so much pleasure and peace of mind. I’m going for a reiki healing session next Tuesday, it’s been too long since my last one. 😉

Love the fish ☺🐟 The first painting is something special, and I’ve always had a look at it from time to time. The colours of the wave painting is really nice by the way☺

I do love the color and the whispiness of your waves. You’ve come a long way since the cute fish. ❤

Actually I use to paint in acrylics many years ago. Never tried digital painting, but I’ve edited some photos using the smoothing tool and I can see the potential. 🙂

I have seen a sky that color and waves like that…in Taba, Egypt. on the Red Sea at sunset. Gorgeous!

Love your ocean scene, Elaine. The colours are marvellous with just a soupçon of pink in the sky 😉 😀
I actually like your fish as well, but who wants a wet fish?

Those skies are seen often here in the west. Waves so pretty. And the whole painting is beautiful, and yes, a far cry from that fish! But you are accomplished now, enjoy it!🤗

I need to add that water is a very difficult thing to paint and you did it beautifully here!

Yes but I would have still been sat looking at my paint box if we hadn’t challenged each other to try! 🤭
