It’s good to touch someone 😇

I rang the McMillan nurse yesterday who used to come out to visit mum before she found her a place in the hospice. I wanted to thank her for all what she had done for my mum and for my sister and I.

I thought it was Monday morning and she was probably starting another tough week and I wanted her to know just how much she is appreciated. She was touched by my call and said it was very rare that she heard from the relatives after the patient had passed.  Hopefully it gave her a good start to the  week. 😇

Another angel for my book 😉

  1. Very cute! I did the same thing yesterday, thanking someone who assisted me. It probably is rare to receive those calls, making it all the more important and rewarding.

  2. I am sure Elaine your compassionate act will keep your treasured McMillan nurse going.
It sounds as though she had quite an impact and I really do think home contact plays a big part in that experience 👼👼👼

    1. I agree Margaret, I don’t know how we would have coped without her, mums doctor was not a great help . Doctors have a different work ethic they want to keep people going whereas The McMillan team focus on the pain, comfort, dignity and spiritual side.

Whilst mum was going through all this I was diagnosed with polycythemia which is a blood cancer, it’s not life threatening if recognised and treated. I only hope that I can have access to a marvellous team like the McMillan nurses. x

      1. Aw,
Sorry to hear that Elaine and hope you are managing the condition as best you can.
Hopefully McMillan nurses may not be required but good to have had experience of the service if it is needed.
        Take care 👼👼👼

    1. I’m doing okay thank you, we have all been busy clearing mums house and sorting out everything that needed cancelling. It was funny yesterday I looked in mums emails and she had won £10 on the postcode lottery! She had left things in order with passcodes for her various online accounts.

Her funeral is next Monday morning which feels strange because it seems ages since she passed. I wrote most of the Commemoration and obviously a five little angels poem which John my husband is going to read in the service. She wouldn’t want us to be miserable so I’m going to try my best to hold it together 😉

      1. Aww, I’ll be thinking of you on Monday. But don’t out pressure on yourself to hold it together through it, I’m sure she wouldn’t mind if you had a little cry during it. xx Just take things a day at a time. 🙂 xxx
