Acrylic fairy painting.
What a few days we had with my mum! After her fall and a four hour wait in A&E she had a series of X-rays which showed no breakages thank God but did show other blood issues one of which was an UTI infection so she was admitted to a ward for treatment and further investigations.
Now apparently when someone elderly has an UTI infection it can make them have hallucinations. Well mums were not nice hallucinations and she was completely out of character. Telling the staff all we do is sit and cry when we visit and about the various people she keeps seeing in her room.
The Macmillan palliative care nurse came to see her and I swear those nurses are true angels 😇 she immediately took control and sorted out mums medications. I honestly think the nurses on the ward thought mum was a little old lady who after having a fall was behaving normally!
After finally giving mum some injections to calm her down and putting her in a small ward with four others she is now the life and soul of the ward, high as a kite, laughing uncontrollably.
She can stand up but unfortunately is leaning back so the physio has said she will probably be moved to a rehabilitation centre to help her get back on her feet again. Hopefully she will then be able to go home and we will have to have some additional help with her daily care.
The whole family are experiencing a roller coaster of emotions along with mum on this journey and we seem to laugh and cry in equal measures. My daughter and I are going to see her tomorrow, I hope she is still loving life 😬🤪 I think!!!
