When all around are fast asleep

 silently you sit and weep

wondering how your life

could have been

if you had only seen

What your future was to be

if you had never married me

your heart breaks at the thought

you know the lessons you were taught

to always be the dutiful wife

to put up with the pain and strife

you get down on your knees to pray

asking to be shown the way

Needing to find the ways to say

Release me

let me slip away
